Sync Software Update

Featured Replies

Hi all

just updated the software to version 3. Something but it’s horrendous takes 10 minutes to cycle through anything glitches and is unusable. I have reset several times. Any suggestions shall I try and re install or put my fist through it in frustration. Please someone help

What version did you update to and where did you get the files from?

All files are from Ford direct I did as requested and followed their process and guidelines. Version 3.2

I had a similar issue when I updated, have you updated the maps to the latest version?

No I have not

Try updating the maps as that cured the exact same issue as you described when my car was on the “stock” sync 3 software. It was a while ago now but it was definitely the out of date maps which was constantly restarting in the background causing the whole system to lag literally going from the audio screen to the climate screen took up to a minute sometimes

My further issue is I can’t seem to notify Ford via the website that I’ve downloaded the new software I try to upload it but it’s a nightmare and just skips

Your maps are way out of date too.

I would be tempted to update to latest 3.4 version and the latest maps using CyanLabs

But bear in mind you can never use Ford servers again

Allow at least 45 mins drive cycle to update maps

3.4 also has its own issues, like audio stuttering with bluetooth and USB playback.

You can't win

i updated my sisters fiesta sync 3 last week by usb stick took around 30mins to update, once done take the usb out turn car off leave for 5mins then go and start car plug usb in and it will copy a file to usb stick, the plug that into laptop/pc and upload file to ford, it will then let you get maps update thats about 25gb download and a few hours to install in car so nice long drive while updates happen..

My issue is impossible. Because I can’t get the Ford website to upload my new software it won’t let me install new maps as it says there’s an update. My new update it’s glitching and failing because the software is new it doesn’t like the fact the maps have not had new map update yet I can’t get it aarrgggghh

That is the exact reason I installed cyanlabs  version and updates

It does seem a better option for many people.

And this is the latest CyanLabs update:

Guys, when it comes to technology im thick as s**t, can someone please explain to me how to update the maps in my Focus ? No SD card just USB in glovebox. Can it be updated through sync 3 over wifi ? or does it need to be put onto a pen and transfered via usb connection in glovebox. Advice appreciated, ta Del

USB is the only way.

Maps takes forever, plan a long journey of at least 45 minutes

Ive had a look and for me its a minefield, updater wont accept my current version, so im just going to do wifi updates via the car itself. I dont want to brick my Sync 3 and im not smart enough to do it myself.

Wi-fi doesn't work, you'll be there forever

Or use Cyanlabs

Yes i hear you Dave, but the sync 3 updater wont accept my current version, so what do i do ?

Have you put your VIN in the updater?

Does that tell you there is an update?

Re download and install from the Ford site

Get the XML file this time and upload to the Ford site.

Get the Map update from Ford site and install

Turn Wi-fi off, it doesn't work
