Can I deactivate these 4 features on a Ford Puma & Transit?

Featured Replies

I'm happy with out family Ford Puma and my work Ford Transit but the following features and notificaitons absolutley drive me nuts constantly and I would love to know if its possible to permanently deactivate them??

1. Lane assist.
2. Driver Fatigue warning
3. Keep hands on steering wheel
4. Collision Alert

Thanks in advance.

For the Puma,

1 - yes press the button on the end of the indicator stick will turn lane assist off

2 - Yes via the sync system under driver assistance

3 - unsure

4 yes again via the sync system

Obviously these are not “permanent”deactivations but turns the systems off

I'd look carefully at the handbook for a 2025 model. Quite a few things have changed in 2025 through GSR 2 and some of the ADAS systems won't stay off permanently now, you have to switch them off every ignition cycle.

If you need to turn the Collision Alert off then either it is faulty or you are not as good a driver as you think you are.

It can be a little sensitive in its default state. I have mine set to low sensitivity and it got rid of all the false positives.

I've found that I can predict almost all of the false positive alerts in the Default Mode such as in narrow housing streets with cars parked staggered on both sides, busy narrow winding country roads etc so I've kept mine at Default and don't get annoyed when it does go off.

It is probably less of a problem with a ST car, the handling and braking will be better and the drivers tend to be more on the ball as well.

Straying off Ford (but still on ADAS) I was reading a long term report on a Cupra Tavascan. The usual driver reported that the systems were so sensitive that driving down the ramps of a multi-storey the steep exit angle caused the brakes to slam on, and the low wall either side of the ramps made the system think it was about to be side-swiped!

I've used a few Mult-Storey Car Parks and never had that with my Ford.

I might be cynical but I do wonder when reading things like that whether the Author is using a bit of artistic licence to make an otherwise boring article more interesting and trying to justify their existence or maybe they were deliberately inducing the problem.

Yes, I am too, but it seemed pretty plausible to me. I see both Auto Express and Autocar are running long termers on that model, so I'll keep glancing at their sites and look out for further reports.

Just annoys me when weaving through cars parked on both sides of a road on say newer housing estates and such - and as you do so it goes mental.  Just wish we could have a mode that is based on older cars with less ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance Systems - they're more Aggravation than Assistance!  Often the alerts themselves are more of a distraction.

Yes, the Puma we have is ST and the Collision Alert is much less of an occurence than it is with the Transit.

Thanks for this.

I have the same problem if I take the back way into my street. I find that if you slow down a little to probably the speed you should be doing in these situations and importantly start the Steering very early and early it doesn't go off.

Maybe because the Transit is bigger it goes off more or perhaps they have made it more sensitive to counter the white van drivers🤭

I hardly ever use Lane Assist, the only time I do is when doing a very long Motorway drive the morning after the night before and I find it useful because I have to remember to Indicate every time I change lanes and that keeps me awake.

If you need all of these "safety" features you shouldn't be driving jn the first place

And if you need all of these systems to drive correctly, you shouldn't have a driving license.
