Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI (2006) - PO22B

Featured Replies

Looking for some help regarding this issue.

Car is in limp mode and won't rev past 3000 - has the power train light (Red cogwheel light emulated)

using diagnostic tool it show the code PO22B present this code cant be erased and stays present.

After replacing all four glowplugs, egr including water cooling valve etc.. the code disappear for roughly 18 hours then came straight back on a placed the car back into limp mode. researching the code i have established that

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Charge Air Cooler Bypass Control "A" Circuit Low.

just wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and had any success resolving please share thanks.

Have you checked the intercooler bypass?

There are two throttle valves on the throttle body for these.  One of them is used to bypass the intercooler under some conditions.

Circuit low could mean it's a wiring fault, though these throttle bodies don't last forever, so I would suspect that first.

Hi, Tom this is an issue i suspected is there a way to determine if the unit needs replaced for example checking with multi-meter, i have taken this throttle body off and cleaned and tbh its in good condition

Possibly you could look at live data using FORScan. John @Tizer might be able to confirm.

had forscan running not the most adept with the software tbh but if anyone could suggest a brief on what to look for in the live data on forscan for me that would be ideal

Have a look in the PCM, I'm not sure what FORScan will call it on that car, probably something to do with Throttle or Charge Air Cooler or Bypass. The Valves should move under certain conditions, I'm not sure what else FORScan will tell you.

You could also try a Key On Engine Off and Key On Engine Running Self Test under Service Functions in FORScan.

FORScan normally gives you a better description of the Fault.
