P2453 - Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor 'A' Circuit Range

Featured Replies

Any solutions for this code other than taking it to the garage ?
P2453 - Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance

I’ve added the FORscan info

prior to this error I had EML for  P0420 catalyst system below threshold and the catalytic converter was replaced , EML came back on after 3 days same code so was replaced with genuine ford cat. And now 3 days after that I’ve got EML again with the title code this time.

It's a Petrol Engine according to the Freeze Frame Data.

Gasoline Particulate Filters are fairly new, so I don't think many people will be have experience with this problem. It is most likely to be a fault or restriction in the GPF or a damaged GPF Pressure Sensor.

Were you getting notifications previously that the GPF was needing a Drive to Clean or if the car is new to you could a previous owner have done something to it?

Now that you mention that, I seem to recall that there was a software update on some of these models to fix the problem with the DTC.

Now the fun begins trying to find the info. I'm sure i came up a couple of times on the forum last year.

I didn't read the whole post the first time.

There was a Software Update for the GPF  but I'm sure that the CAT and GPF are combined in one unit on these cars, if that is the case and given that the Cat has been replaced then it could be a Sensor or Wiring problem.

I'm sure that @iantt will probably remember more. I think the update was for the PCM and was for vehicles between 2019 and 2022.

That was the one I was thinking of for the Drive to Clean message. I did ask the OP if they had that message.

No previous messages other than the previous code with the cat . I’ve had the car since December .

looks like best option is to take it back in then. It’s been such a car compared to my old 04 fiesta

A blockage in the Exhaust could cause the problem, the previous owner may have done something to the car or maybe even done something with the Software to hide a problem.

If the Cat/GPF have been replaced the the Exhaust Pressure Sensor may not have been put back correctly.

As far as I know and I'm not certain, the feedback for the GPF is a single Exhaust Pressure Sensor and you can Monitor it with Forscan.

It may show as a Voltage and I would expect it to be around 0.5 V at Idle and not rising much above 1 when driving.

You should also be able to see the Soot Load - Open and Closed Loop. They should be close to zero for an Engine that is driven a lot on long journeys.

It’s booked in to be checked out , but I’ll have a look at those things in FORScan

thanks
