EGR Blanking

Hi i've recently had a new engine fitted to my custom 2018. The garage had said after there testing there seems to be a top engine knock / pinking. This were lost on me as i thought a new engine should be no issues until he explained they use parts from the old one, injectors, alternator etc. 

The old engine had a remap, adblue delete and EGR delete. He explained that parts are re used such as injectors, alternator, egr etc and suggested it could be the remap, i'd honestly never really noticed the knocking before until he pointed it out, soo it could of been there before or maybe not.

Having a look into it there was a PCM update which was released that helped with cold starts and would also take off the remap. I got this done and it did stop the pinking and were amazed how quiet the engine is / can be. The PCM update wiped off the remap, adblue and egr delete. This left me with 0 miles warning on the adblue, makes sense as i'd not had it on. Adblue i didnt want on as i do alot of small journeys so paid someone again to come take it back off as well as the egr valve.

The guy said to fit a blanking plate also. The pinking is now back, i've not had chance to fit the blanking plate yet as they seem a bit of a nightmare to get to and waiting for a free day. 

So long way of asking a question, if i do fit the blanking plate will this stop the pinking ? or would i still have the same results.
