Grand Tourneo Connect 1.5TDCi wet belt?

Featured Replies

I am in the process of purchasing a 2020 Grand Tourneo Connect 1.5TDCi. My report says that it has the ZTGA engine. Does this have a wet belt for the timing? Many thanks in advance, I'm sure you guys get asked this alot! I have attached a picture of the actual engine bay for reference.

Hi,

This is the 1.5 EcoBlue engine.  It does not have a wetbelt.

It uses a normal dry belt.  Plus a small chain for the cams.  This chain has been known to break regularly and there is a thicker upgrade chain available if you ever decide to replace it.

Hi.

I have just bought a 2020 Grand Tourneo Connect 1.5TDCi and have been told that it is NOT a wet belt. I have spent a lot of time researching this and have found so many different answers. If possible could someone please confirm which belt I have? And how do I find out if the engine that is in mine is the ZTGA engine. It would be much appreciated.

Hi,

The engine code is written on the V5 logbook. And originally on a sticker at the top of the cambelt cover, although those fall off over time.

A 2020 model will most likely be EcoBlue rather than TDCI. So dry timing belt. Plus a small cam-chain that is known to be weak. There is an upgraded 8mm chain that can be fitted for peace of mind if desired.
