Portable DAB Radio (Mains/Battery)

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for a portable DAB radio that works on either mains or battery?

I've already got a Roberts Play10 in one room and could just buy another one, but wondering if there are any better options now.

Thanks

No radio fans on here then?

Anyone tried a Majority branded radio?

I have a lovely little Sony XDR-S41D which I'd rate as excellent. [Mains or Battery]

Simple to use, good reception and a clear sound. Not for those who want a stereo boom box, but it works very well for me in the kitchen. 😀

Now, I have that radio and I've always considered a major weakness is that it's battery only? I just use rechargeable batteries on rotation to keep her going... The mains/battery one I have is an old Roberts SAB+ one , likely not made anymore, but great quality, and the mains supply ca be switched to charge up rechargeable batteries. Thanks @unofix.  That is exactly the type of thing I'm after!  Looks like that one is longer sold though?

Currently considering the Majority Histon which is a very similar slim design.  Currently available for £28 after discount.

Histon – Majority

The description suggests the Sony could be mains powered as well.  Perhaps they make 2 very similar models.

Must admit, I've never actually used the battery function so far, so that isn't really a necessity.  I just needed the compact size of a portable.  Also need to make sure it's DAB+, as I had a very cheap one from ASDA for several years, but that no longer worked after the DAB+ switchover for the stations I listen to.

That switchover cost me a darn fortune LOL I brought a box of 7 standard DAB radios to the charity shop as like you, my stations migrated to DAB+...
