Is it worth replacing?

Featured Replies

I have 2013 1L Ford Fiesta Ecoboost 70,000 miles on clock. I've had it from new. I had the timing belt changed by a Ford Dealer at the appropriate time. However, I had to have the alternator replace a month ago because apparently coolant had leaked onto it. The garage then told me that my turbo needed replacing because it was becoming dry. At my local Ford Dealer it will cost about £1300 to replace and fit.

Is this worth doing or am I on the slippery slope of expensive repairs?

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you

Where is the coolant leaking from?

Has the leak been fixed?

This is double posted.

I think something has happened recently with the way new posters make threads on here.  An awful lot of threads posted in the Guides sections lately.  Doesn't bother me as I just view by 'Newest Posts' rather than individual sections but perhaps the guides sections could be locked to prevent this happening.

It used to be locked.

If you wanted to post a guide it went in a section called something like "new guides to be moved."

Then I guess if it genuinely was a new guide the FOC admin would move it to the "Guides" forum.

I'm sure you couldn't reply to posts there previously. I've PM'd a few people in the past to warn them they wouldn't get a reply unless they reposted elsewhere.

When I first started on car forums, people were making guides all the time, myself included.  I rarely see any nowadays though.  Wondered whether that's due to a change in the 'car scene' with fewer people working on their own cars.  Or whether it's due to the rise of YouTube, which can make it easier to show a process than stills & text.  Or whether there's something else going on entirely. 🤔

In my opinion (not that anyone asked for it!) I think it would simplify the forum page to get rid of the guides sections altogether.  Just sticky the relevant guides at the top of the Fiesta/Focus/Mondeo sections.
