Shudder over 50mph

Featured Replies

Morning all, my 2012 2.2 (200) Titanium has developed a shudder on acceleration above 50mph, doesn't noticeably do it below that speed and it only does it on acceleration, with the shudder getting worse the harder you accelerate. It doesn't do it when coasting or under breaking (at any speed) and there's no loss of power or excessive smoke. It seems to be road speed related rather than engine speed and does it in any gear.

Where should I be looking, engine mount(s), driveshaft, CV joint, or something worse?

Has your wheels been ballenced

Mines was doing it when i got mine what a rattle off the Steering Wheel

Or check the wheels see if the lead weights on them

Yes, new set of matching Pirellis just fitted as I thought that might be the problem. The whole car shakes not just the steering wheel.

Manual, on 83k miles. No vibration through the pedal or gear lever, no odd noises, clutch feels fine in operation and doesn't slip.

Perhaps @DaveT70 may have some ideas ?

Does it only do it whilst accelerating?

Or does it do it whilst coasting in neutral too?

Only when accelerating, coasting in gear or neutral (as well as braking) are fine

Possibly the DMF going down then

Also only above around 50, don't know if it does it above 70 for obvious reasons...

Could be engine mount too

Or an injector going down

But I'd check the DMF first
