OK guys I'm after some info on this car firstly does this model have an in tank fuel pump. If so how do I get to it has Google gives different answers also which fuse or and relay is for it, ive seen number 30 on the interweb but what the heff is number 30. Reason I've bought a galaxy and was told it had a fuel pump problem and won't start and when I turn on the ignition I can't hear any noise been made from the tank pump thanks

Don't think these use a tank pump.  The same engine in Focus & Mondeo doesn't.

I don't know tms quoted £150 for one apparently lol I'm stumped turning the car over sounds like it wants to start just doesn't bled the diesel pump and injectors but it's like the diesel is getting pushed backwards away from the pump

Turns out it wasn't a pump in the tank even though tms gave me a price for a pump and when it came was actually just a sender lol. But anyway got a high pressure diesel pump she's now getting diesel. But still won't start she's stuck between starting and not starting.people with more knowledge than me may of came across a couple of things like why would the glow plug light go out as soon as the ignition is turned on.and is normal to hear a relay clicking from in the engine bay even when the key isn't in the ignition thanks

On a plus note, you have a working HP fuel pump now 👍

That's normal operation. At this time of year the engine would start with out the glow plugs.

So it's normal for the glow plug light to go out straight away?if so that's good to know don't fancy taking glow plugs out and them snap

Random clicking relays are often the sign of a weak battery.  Has it been charged since all the failed starts and time off road?

  • Author

Only been charged by putting it on another car and driving it around 10 miles.when I try to start the car it sounds like it's wanting to start but someone said it sounds like it's locking up as its wanting to start

Fair to say the battery is flat, and probably buggered by now.

If it could be saved (which I doubt) it will need a full 24 hours continues charge with a Smart charger.

Oh don't sound good.also does my car have an oil pump the reason I ask is the person I bought it off said either the fuel pump or oil pump had been changed well I've replaced the fuel pump and it's now pumping diesel but still won't start. And my theory is if the engine was fkd surely it wouldn't turn over but it turns over and sounds like it wants to start but it's as though something is preventing it ive changed the starter motor as the other got over heated with trying to start it.had a multimeter on the injectors and they went to 13oms is that good or bad. I've read the oil pressure sensor could prevent it from starting would that show up on diagnostics there is nothing on diagnostics only air intake temperature high which ive put that down to having the air box off

Not possible. Post it on YouTube and put the link here.

Better still post the live data from FORScan so we can see the actual RPM when it is trying to start.

On many Ford diesel engines of your cars era, the HP diesel pump is part of the PATS security system. If that is the case for your car then it will never start until the new pump is programmed. The use of FORScan would confirm the reason for none start, and of course allow the new pump to be programmed.

I will try get forscan and post it thanks
