Focus Titanium, Edition, Vignale

Featured Replies

Hi folks am thinking of upgrading my 171 plate Titanium Navigator for a 22 or 23. Is it worth spending the extra for a Vignale as the Edition spec seems quite high. Also would there be a big change between a Titanium and an ST Line?

Many Thanks

You've been looking for a while, iirc? Just to clarify for anyone replying, you're in Dublin but talking about UK reg plates. Are you planning on buying a UK spec car and importing it to ROI?

Just as a general comment, I'd suggest only you can decide on the question of which spec. Is the difference in spec worth the money to you?

You are considering moving from a Mk 3.5 to a Mk 4.5 Focus and Ford specs generally have been downgraded. A Titanium is not what it was so look very carefully at any car of interest to ensure that it has your "must haves".

The significant difference here is the ST-Line, has lower, firmer suspension, larger diameter wheels and wider, lower profile tyres, so if ride comfort is your priority, perhaps not a good choice.

Thanks so much for replying. My current Focus Tit was an Northern Ireland registered vehicle bought there and imported into Republic of Ireland(RoI). Since Brexit it's all got far more complicated but suffice to say the GB/NI spec can be superior to what we're offered in RoI. I am still looking around, sometimes the paperwork around importing is justified by getting a superior vehicle. A recent dealer was offering me a 22 plate that appeared to me as older stock, particularly the info screen size. I was just trying to clarify the trim levels, face-lifts etc as a lot of dealers here don't offer that level of detail. I hadn't realised that the Titanium is not quite the spec it was and thank you for clarifying the ST Line situation as well.

Yes, should be easy to tell a facelift from the interior - massive screen and lack of buttons.

I remembered a thread from when the facelift was launched late in 2021. Apart from a lot of rambling from us, there are links to some more useful info including a couple of videos and the Ford press blurb.

Don't forget not all of the facelifts got the massive screen.

Due to parts shortages around 2022 some were sold with the small screen.  The word 'Style' was added to the end of the trim level on those. (Titanium Style & ST-Line Style).

Oh, yes - even more confusion!

All comes back to making a list of what you really want and finding a car which fits the bill I guess. It might not be a Ford!😀  All our friends who were serial Ford owners have now gone elsewhere, mainly VW or Japanese.

Thanks so much for the clarification, it gets VERY confusing. Only last night I saw a dealer offering an 222 (2nd 6 months of 2022) MCA (Facelift) ST Line with the oval on the bonnet, the small screen and the a/c buttons. Though no mention of STYLE. For many years RoI buyers have been short changed with inferior specs. My first Datsun 120Y didn't have wings mirrors. I was horrified to see, on a UK visit, the very different spec for the same year and model. No "packs" then!  BTW several of the Titaniums I viewed last night online did not have privacy glass. Was that a pack too?

They dropped it at some point. Still on Titanium X on the last price list I've got. Bit late for the age of car you're looking at, but might give an idea of how specs have gone. Link below, if it works!

Thanks, yes it works. It's very useful but a 24 Reg is beyond my budget I'm afraid. Even a UK import. Ford aren't making it easy to remain loyal with the cheap skating on the trim.

Well folks I finally bought the ST Line and thanks for all the responses to my post ,"Focus Titanum v ST LINE" I have to say I love the car, although a 1 litre engine, it's very nippy and handling is superb. I got a model in red with leather seat coverings, coupled with black mats with red piping and black interior it looks the part. Many people think it's the ST!

To be honest though, the Titanium was lovely inside with a great info tainment centre albeit with a small screen. The ST Line is clunky, too complicated and to be frank a sh** speaker system. This may seem trivial but seriously is that the best speaker system Ford think owners are worthy of??

All in all the ST Line is a lovely nippy car with good fuel consumption, on board features can be a tad too complicated.

Overall really glad I changed over and thanks again for the interest shown here. It was both helpful and instructive.
