Ford Galaxy jacking points?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a Ford Galaxy, registered in 2020 which I think makes it a Mark 3/Third Gen? I've noticed that I didn't get a spare tyre when I bought it, and I'm looking to buy a space saver spare as a backup. However, there is nothing in the User Manual about jacking points... I've read a bit on the internet about it but heard horror stories of sills bending?? I've had a look at my car and seen there are little arrows on the frame, close to front and rear tyres, which are what I think are likely to be jacking points, but unsure. Basically, I'm hoping someone on here can advise if those arrows are the jacking points, and therefore can I go ahead an buy a scissor jack that will do the job? The alternative is I have to keep using the tyre repair kit whenever I get a puncture which means buying a new tyre every time (instead of being able to repair it).

All advice gratefully received! TIA.

Yes, but only for the Ford jack.

Not with out using an adapter so that a regular scissor jack can rest on the pad and not crush the seam on the sill.

Thanks for this unofix. When you say 'the Ford jack' - do you mean a specific Ford branded jack? Or will any scissor jack, in combination with the adaptor you mentioned, work?

In terms of the adaptor - am I just looking for something with a groove in it, that the seam will fit into? Where's the best place to find something like that?

Thanks for your help!

I'll put my twopence worth in here.

I don't know if your Galaxy is the same as the other Ford cars that I have owned, if so then the bit on the Jack that fits the Sill Jacking Point is stepped so that the inner part is higher than the outer. I presume this is because all or nearly all the weight is taken on the Inner Sill and none on the Seam.

I know that other people have made Adapters that are not stepped and presumably have used them successfully, that is not something that I would do, I would buy an original one from a Scrapyard.

This link for a genuine Jack illustrates what I mean   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394356912143?_skw=Genuine+Ford+Galaxy+lifting+jack&epid=9057928210&itmmeta=01JXVZFH2J9KE64MFNW

If you are looking for a spacesaver spare wheel and a jack, there is this listing on ebay (but I would double check with the seller that it does actually fit your car):

thanks for the info here.

I have an additional question about the jacking points.

I have a 2018 Galaxy 2 liter EcoBoost Petrol/gasoline.

where can I buy the car specific jack pad adapters, and can I use them with a normal trolley/floor jack?

If it's possible, where is a good spot to place jack stands while the car is jacked?

Thanks for any help.
