Amongst other problems with this idea is your panel between 6 & 13mm thick?

That is just not going to work🤦‍♂️

Drill out the hole (no bigger than required to fit the rivnut) to remove the broken weld nut and fit an M6 rivnut.

The rivnut will work, that's what they're designed to do!

You can buy rivnuts and a manual rivnut tool from Ebay etc.

Thanks guys.

Then anchors 6-13 mm going need 1 or 2 washers.

I've measured the nut including the thread looks like M8 but you guys saying M6, but you guys know.   I'll give fords a bell and ask them.

Looking at that broken hole it's 14mm wide so have to get rivnut with a minimum 14mm hole. Drill bits out and whack it in.

I think you will find the bolt is an 8mm (13mm spanner size). If the hole in the pillar is 14mm, then an 8mm rivinut will fall straight through.

I suspect the best way to fix this is to get a piece of thick(ish) metal about 25mm square, drill an 8.5mm hole in the middle, and weld a nut on it. Then place the piece of metal over the hole, with the nut inside the pillar, and weld the plate to the pillar.

Unless you can weld, you will need to find someone who can weld tidily (not so easy these days). Don't forget to disconnect the battery while welding! Mask the area up, paint it and refit the strap.

Hi guys

Thanks for all your replys.

I fixed the focus hinge I found some jack nuts online. Just drilled off the lip bit in the hole and left the old bit bent down so doesn't rattle in the bodywork.

i used these and they did the job.
