Parking Sensor's Failed, No PAM in Forscan?

Featured Replies

I’ve got a 2013 Ford Galaxy and my parking sensors have completely stopped working. When I put the car in reverse, there’s no beeping, no sensor activity, and the dash button doesn’t light up or respond at all. However, the reverse lights do still come on.

I ran FORScan and didn’t get any fault codes, but I also noticed the Parking Aid Module (PAM) doesn’t appear in the list of modules. Could this mean the module is offline, or does it show up under a different name in FORScan?

I’ve already checked and replaced the FB8 5A fuse in the boot (as I understand that’s for the PAM), but it made no difference. None of the sensors click when reversing either.

I’m considering replacing the module, but before I go that route, I’d really appreciate if someone could confirm whether PAM should definitely show in FORScan and if its absence means it’s likely failed.

Also, can anyone confirm the location of the module? I believe it’s on the right-hand side behind the boot trim (near the wing)?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Yes, when PAM dies it disappears from the tree if it's your first time connect.

If you'd have connected whilst it was still working it would say "PAM deactivated"

Source a used replacement of exactly the same (full) part number that is on your current one.

Delete your current vehicle profile in FORScan before you fit the new one, then when you reconnect PAM will show up

Agree with Dave.

Just one thing to add and that is, are you using the vLinker FS cable?

If you are still using the old ELM327 cable then that sometimes misses some models these days.

Thanks for the reply:

I'm still using an old ELM27 with HS Switch that I got from Amazon back in 2020.

Details: bbfly Forscans VINT-TT55502 ELMconfig USB modified For all Windows HS-CAN/MS-CAN

Best Regards

Dave

Problem is that newer versions of FORScan no longer work correctly with the ELM327 cable.

Change to the vLinker FS cable .

Then delete all saved profiles of your car and then rescan using the new cable.
