Reverse camera

Featured Replies

Good morning all. Been a member for a while but this is my first post. I hope I've posted this is in the correct place.

I have a 2016 1.0 Fiesta ecoboost.

I replaced my reverse camera which went faulty, with a used/recycled part. I know there's issues around recycling parts but was trying to reuse as can't repair the original unit. Waste not want not etc.

Anyway, the replacement unit doesn't work on start up. But after 20 minutes will work flawlessly. Until you switch off, then the process repeats. It's almost as if the car and the new camera aren't sure if they can play together nicely and be friends.

I have looked in so many places for a straight answer to this question.

Does it need coding to the car? I've read both yes and no answers. Don't mind getting it coded and paying for it to be done, just dont want to get ripped off by my local main dealer who aren't as honest as I'd like them to be.

Original camera went like a kaleidoscope. The new camera is crystal clear- when it works. Have posted in other groups forums and received some interesting abuse, so I'm hoping you lot will show you're best place to ask these questions.

Forgot to state model of car. Corrected grammer

Replacing the original reverse camera does not require any coding or programming. The correct camera will be plug and play.

Does the replacement camera exactly the same part number as the original one? If not the replacement camera is most likely not compatible with the vehicle. Through the years Ford used several different reverse cameras which may look identical but are technically different which can cause compatibility issues.

Probably should post this in the Fiesta section 😉

No excuse if they've been a member for a while either.

Poor observation: 1 minor.

Incorrect positioning could be classed as a major fault as well! 😀

Perhaps the FOC admin should post a warning about posting in the general forum 🤣

The General Chat forum is ONLY for threads which DO NOT fit any other category. If your thread is anything do to with a specific model, it should go in the relevant model club section

Posting in General Chat thread.

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums.

Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may receive warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member.

There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one.

If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance.

The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.
