Ignition on/off with keyless system (mark4, 2018)

Featured Replies

I will install the dash camera soon in my car (with the direct connection to the car electrics for the neat cable management), but I am struggling a little to understand the car ignition states.

With the typical key and barrel, things are simple - car is ON/OFF, power to lighter, steering wheel unlocked, etc, But with the keyless system (well, the start stop button) I am a little confused.

How to recognise the state car is in? I will take the dome/maplight panel off in search for permanent 12V and switched 12V. But how to switch on 12v and switch it off, if I only have the remote with some "telepatic" abilities of sensing the keyfob proximity?

Press the start button without pressing the clutch.  (Or brake if auto).  That switches ignition on without engine start.

Parking Aid fuse is usually a good one to use for the dashcam
