Rear View Camera guides

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've just bought a 2014 Fiesta Titanium X, which has a Sync 1 radio and has a rear-view camera that shows this screen while in reverse.

image.thumb.jpeg.8281b5073a910c084442e541d2df190e.jpeg

Should this model move the lines when you turn the steering wheel and should the buttons on the lower part of the stereo change the settings in relation to what the icons say?

On mine, the lines don't move and only the last button works, which turns the reverse screen off. So, I wanted to know if this is normal?

 Thanks

Only on the factory fitted camera system

Yours is an aftermarket camera that has been integrated with the original head unit.

Just curious, do any 'aftermarket' cameras have dynamic line movement?

They all kind of do, if you add the missing wiring between the BCM and APIM. It's the car that adds the lines and the movement, not the actual camera. Someday I might get around to doing the camera on my own Focus 🤣

EDIT:

Seems that it is necessary to use a Ford factory fitted camera in order to be able to activate dynamic parking lines.

Ah ok.  May I ask how you found this information out?  I’ve been searching the net high and low for anything about this and can’t find much at all about it

This has also peaked my interest and would love to add it.  Do you know of any guides on how to do it?

As far as I know there is no way to get the dynamic parking lines working on an aftermarket camera.

The original camera communicates with the IPMB or BCM (depending on vehicle type and production period). The communication is either over CANbus or LINBUS network (again depending on vehicle type and production period).

The IPMB or BCM is responsible for the generation of the (dynamic) parking lines. If there is no communication between the reverse camera and the IPMB/BCM there will be no (dynamic) parking lines being generated.

I was under the assumption it wasn't an aftermarket camera with it being a Titanium X though.  That's where I'm a little confused.

Ideally, Ford Etis was still available so I could check all the bells and whistles it has or not.

My 2019 Focus Titanium X did not have a factory fitted reverse camera. They were part of a pack and not something that you could just order on its own.

I have an old Mk 7.5 brochure. According to that, reverse camera was not standard even on Titanium X. It could be ordered as an option but only in conjunction with Sony audio and sat nav.

You can get very similar information from here: https://www.fordzona.sk/

Thanks for the help gents I can rest now knowing there isn’t a problem with the car 👍

Off topic does anyone know how I can make the fob open or close the windows?

All 4 are 1 touch and I have tried the lower and hold ect to set them but it still doesn’t work.  I also connected it to forscan and this is already enabled which I presume is the thing I’m looking for?

@pcaouolte Thanks for the link that’s exactly what I was looking for.

To open the windows press and release the unlock button on the fob. Then press and hold the unlock button on the fob, release the button when the windows start to open.

To close the windows is a similar procedure using the lock button on the fob.

If it doesn't work there is a setting in the menus somewhere to enable/disable it. The car menus, not Forscan.

There should be 4 buttons on the radio below the screen that allow you to activate zoom, dynamic parking lines, etc. If you could upload another photo of the reverse camera with all the radio buttons visible, I'll circle the one you need to press to get dynamic parking lines working.

Well damn, I was clicking the second time too fast, then holding.  I tried what you said and let go fully then held it and it works 😂. This has thrown up another problem though, the back windows both just bounce when going up and stop like it’s detected somethings blocking them.  It does the same when doing it with the buttons as well, it does what the video shows twice then I have to hold the button to get them go up.

Only the one in Yellow works on mine which turns the camera off

Resetting Window Bounce-Back

You must reset the bounce-back memory separately for each window.
Carry out all steps within 30 seconds of starting the sequence.
Close the window.
Press and hold the window control switch until the window is fully open. Keep the switch pressed for a few seconds.
Lift and hold the switch until the window is fully closed. Keep the switch held for a few seconds.
Press and hold the switch until the window is fully open. Keep the switch pressed for a few seconds.
Lift and hold the switch until the window is fully closed. Keep the switch held for a few seconds.
Note:   Repeat the procedure if the window does not close when you use one-touch.

Try the second button from the left while the camera is on and the rear parking sensors are active

I followed what you said and it worked on 1 window but for some reason it is lsn’t working on the other.  The left one kind of reset after the second time of going up so it just want up with the hold of the button and was fine after the second hold at the top.
The right one no matter what I do won’t go up continuously and it’ll take 3 pulls of the switch for it go up with the hold of the button.  I’ll try again later though it was red hot doing it in the car earlier lol

Same as before. Only the last button works which turns the screen off. The others don’t do anything.

Sounds like something is blocking the travel. Are the guide groves clean? Try a little spray lube in them. Sometimes the top of the frame needs easing in or out a little to make the window travel smoothly.

I’ll give that a go later, Thanks.

Back to the reverse camera these hatches came on today for a short while which makes things even stranger.

There is nothing in the settings about the camera but would imagine these buttons should enable and disable them, but they don’t.

I totally get what your saying, it’s just what happened today with the hatches popping up for a short while opened up as to why if it shouldn’t be happening.
