Mark3 Front console/radio removal

Featured Replies

During my reversing camera installation (another thread to follow + Aukey rear view camcorder) I have encountered a problem with access to the front infotainment panel.

I do not want to break anything for obvious, esthetical reasons. Could someone guide me on which part to remove next, please? Youtube is not particularly helpful - there are hundreds of models.

The photo of the cable I have to connect is attached.

Many thanks,

I don't know the full process to dismantle the console but you will need to remove the gear selector bezel next. just put your fingers in around the soft leather gaiter and pull up.

Here is a link to the exploded view of the floor console:

It was a pain..    So, urbi et orbi until I forget:

1. Both vents: start from the bottom. Outer edges are barely clipped, but the inner ones are hooked to the fascia. On the top there is a one, but very stubborn clip (on extension).

2. Pry gently, clips are all around except the middle - where there are the two small half hooks

3. Pull enough away to gain access to 4 Torx screws (or take off completely)

4. 3 clips on sides, two - centrally. Those two required REALLY hard pull. Mind the cables!

5. After removal the horizontal fascia with cup holders, push it back 5mm to get clearance to remove the "ashtray" with cig lighter and USBs. It is on 4 torx screws

6. After removing ashtray, loosen by approx 10mm two bolts (socket 7)

7. Grab the entire fascia on top and pull towards the centre - it will move enough to give access to 4 socket 7 bolts holding the tablet.

Bit counterintuitive, but overall simple

I had to repeat the process this morning and... When you do it for the second time - it takes 6 minutes exactly 🙂
