[Mark3 2018 T7CL] powershift fluid replacement.

Featured Replies

Had a first, better look under the engine today. Engine oil and filter replaced without any problems, but got a bit surprised with the plastic sump and no traditional drainage bolts.

I wanted to do the powershift fluid as well, but that's not as obvious.

Autodata shows that:

Draining points -

Fluid level check:

filling point:

but as usual, it doesnt look so clear to me:

Is this a fluid filter? That connector looks more like AC drier filter...

Any advice would be appreciated.

The black Allen head bolts shown in your diagrams are the drain (2) and fill points. I can't see both drain plugs on your pictures and don't recognise those 4 black interconnected plastic plugs - has something changed?

The side plug is not a pure level plug...

When you remove it, maybe 0.5 l will likely come out. This does not mean it is overfilled as there are 2 chambers.

Yes, the black cylinder is the transmission filter with pipes going to and from the cooler.

Look at You Tube, Alan Howatt, Powershift and he shows you how to do it properly - must follow procedure exactly.

Check eBay for oil and filter kits. I use Westway Lubricants kit ( there are others) at around £80 and MUCH cheaper than Ford.

Need to change at least every 3 years, 30000 miles or whatever your manual says.

Filter element, when ripped apart, should look like black paste with no evidence of metal or plastic bits.

I am slightly surprised that 2018 still has Powershift, looking almost identical to 2011 apart from filter pipe being metal and engine sump plastic, so check all carefully.
