S-Max Hybrid engine: related to Toyota's

Featured Replies

I was wondering how different the S-Max Hybrid's engine is from the Toyota engine.
The displacement seems to be the same down to the bore x stroke values.
Can anyone confirm this? If so, how different are the parts? (Block, head, gaskets, etc...) Is this a closed-deck block?

I understand that the hydrid system is also similar to Toyota's (under license as I understand it).

It would not be the first time a Japanese block is used: my understanding is that the early 2.0 Ecoboost used blocks related to Mazda's 2.0 MZR (correct me if I'm wrong with the Mazda reference).

Asking the question before I decide to "upgrade" (clearly not performance-wise) my early 2.0 Ecoboost to an Hybrid. I want reliabilty.
