Diesel Leaking - 2017 Galaxy 2.0 TDCI

Featured Replies

In my 2017 2.0 TDCI Galaxy I keep getting a leak slightly Infront of my rear passenger side tyre. Im pretty sure it's diesel which is coming from the diesel overflow hole by the fuel cap, as I can see the rubber pipe leading from there.

This would make perfect sense of I get this leak when the fuel tank is overflowing all the time. But I get it even when the tank is quarter or half full.

Would really appreciate some advice on this. Can't find anything online about anyone having a similar issue either.

What about the filler pipe itself, any joints or splits?

I don't see any other leaks anywhere. The diesel is only leaking in the one location from the overflow pipe. It recently passed it's MOT

If it's only coming from the overflow pipe when the tank is less than full, then my logic says that there's an internal fault allowing fuel to leak from the overflow when it actually isn't overflowing.
Either block up the overflow and see what effect that has or get a cheap mobile phone endoscopic camera and look down the filler pipe to see if anything stupid is going on OR ?

My opinion, you need to get visual of it, load it full, rock the car side to side, see where it leaks... Is the overflow pipe rubber? Maybe replace that one...

Just my humble opinion...

So it turns out I simply needed to clean out the easy fuel funnel. Debris must have been stopping the little flap from closing and creating a seal.... And the fuel was leaking into the little hole and down into the overflow pipe

What a headache Ford! Stick to the old fashioned way

Thanks for coming back with the solution but if you'd said you were using the funnel (presumably filling from a can otherwise why is it needed???) if I have that right it may have put me on the scent.
I only use the funnel for adding Archoil and if you don't get it right in, you get a leak.
