Error code p2033

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a ford smax 12 plate, with the error code p2033, ive looked online and also been to car parts shops both of which told me the sensor i needed. Ive now replaced 2 sensors in the car but im still getting the error code. Can someone tell me exactly what cable it is that I need. Please.

The error I get is exhaust gas temperature sensor circuit high bank 1 sensor 2.

Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you.

Welcome!
From my logic, there's only 1 Bank (i.e. it's not a V8 so only one DPF?) and sensor 2, to me is the one downstream of the DPF i.e. nearest to tailpipe?
If changing the sensor hasn't done it then I'd test original sensor (If it's a resistance thermometer, resistance should increase with temperature - use a lighter flame?) Compare with other sensors.
Circuit high = high resistance = likely open circuit somewhere?
Alternative may be to use Forscan (and recommended lead) to see if there's a live data item for that channel and monitor it.
If that hasn't worked then wiring will need to be tested at each connector, all the way back to ECU?
According to my Haynes, it's a thermistor symbol so unsure if they are NTC or PTC BUT there should be 4.8-5.2V at the connector so measure voltage at both pins then both pIns to Earth to see if the fault is on the live or earth wire?
Strangely (which I don't understand), both sensors seem to go to the same input at the ECU?

OR...whatever they say...
