2012 S-MAX 2.0 TDCi – ECU repaired, immobiliser out of sync

Featured Replies

 Hi all,
I’ve got a 2012 Ford S-MAX 2.0 TDCi (Delphi DCM3.5 ECU). The ECU was recently repaired, but since refitting it the car won’t start — ignition comes on, but it shows “immobiliser active.”

FORScan confirms that PATS is disabled and that the PCM–RFA handshake is out of sync. Two original Ford keys are present and recognised, and the battery is fully charged.

I’m looking for someone local to Bedford who can perform a PATS parameter reset / PCM-RFA synchronisation using Ford IDS, FDRS, or a suitable professional tool (Autel IM608, VVDI Key Tool Plus, etc.).

Happy to cover costs for your time or travel if you’re able to help on-site.

Thanks in advance for any leads or advice!

Welcome!

I don't know how to do it but someone with Forscan experience may be able to tell you if it is possible or if you need to go to Ford?

Can the company that reprogrammed it not help?

Disconnect the negative lead of the vehicle battery for 20 minutes. Then reconnect it and WAIT for a full 5 minutes before turning on the ignition.

This should reset all modules and they will boot up in the correct order.

Good luck 👍

Thanks 👍 I’ll give that a try and see if it helps reset things.

Do let us know the results please?
