SMAX 2006 3rd Backlight not working

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum and hoping someone can help me out.

I have a 2006 Ford S-MAX, and the third brake light in the tailgate isn’t working. I’ve already tried the obvious first step — replacing the bulb — but unfortunately that didn’t fix the problem.

Before I start digging deeper, I’d really like to get hold of a wiring diagram for the tailgate or specifically for the third brake light circuit. That would make it much easier to track down the issue.

If anyone has the diagram or can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance

Thorsten

Hi, You will probably find its the bulb, They go quite a bit, It is a bit of an unusual bulb called a "euro bulb". As far as I remember there are a couple of spring clips that you have to release and you access them from inside the top of the door; It is a bit fiddley. Also it is a MOT failure

I'll guessing that it's not the bulb. 😉

It's also not really an MOT fail.  Can the tester be sure it's not disconnected?

What about the (usual?) wiring failure at the LHS point where the loom goes into the hatch, do the wires for the centre light go that way?

Frankly unless the OP returns to read the replies, I'd just consider this thread dead now.

Think it's likely to get a nomination for a OPW award 🤣
