Cheap brake discs

Featured Replies

I'm looking at changing my brake dics, they're rusted to ***** after the car was standing for a year. I thought they would scrub off with use, but they're still rust coloured. Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences to share with the cheaper parts available? They're about half the price of your Brembo or Bosch parts, but is this a false economy?

Cheers all.

Pete

Brembo discs are crap anyway.  Would never recommend those myself.

The ones you're after are coated/painted in a silver coating.  Those ones won't rust around the hub or the outside edges.  Obviously the pad contact area will rust as that's just bare cast iron after you've used the brakes, nothing will prevent that happening.

My preference is Pagid, but other manufactures also offer coated discs nowadays.

Have only ever had two sets of discs including original since new.
When they needed replacing, got them from local motor shop - don't remember the name and not bothered.
es they were coated but 6 years on, the coating has actually rusted off.
We are at 140 k miles and I suspect I'm light on the brakes. Never had any problem with them.

We (MBH and I) have also changed brake fluid every 2-3 years and fitted stainless steel bleed nipples.

My cousin works for KIA, he advice me TRW. They use them as second option to original. So I put them on my wife KIA Ceed. Works cool. Including pads. And they were half price to original KIA. I plan to put them on Galaxy, but I have still 20km to go.
