2012 Focus: no power to instrument cluster/other features

Featured Replies

Hi there

I've got an issue as described in the subject. The car will start and everything appears to work except the instrument cluster, central locking and reversing sensor. I can also get the electrics (headlamps, interior lights) working by pressing the start button alone, plus the stereo.

I found this forum by searching for similar problems and found the thread at https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/151164-ford-focus-2007-instrument-cluster-repair/, which says this model shouldn't be affected by that issue. As it doesn't mention the other problems I'm encountering, I'm guessing that's the case but I'm posting here in case other Mk3 owners have had similar issues.

Fuses 69 & 70 are for the instrument cluster and central locking respectively (I couldn't find one for the reversing sensor) but I am so unused to working on such issues, I don't have the slim-nosed pliers required to remove and inspect them 😳 Having said that, is it likely two adjacent fuses could fail simultaneously?

I think I'm going to have to get an auto-electrician out to take a look (recommendations in the Bath and Bristol areas would be gratefully received) but I thought it was worth asking here first.

Thanks!

I'd definitely be checking the fuses first

Thanks for the reply. The car is completely dead now. I charged the battery in case that was part of the problem. That didn't change anything but the next day there was no power whatsoever so I clearly have a more fundamental issue. I'm looking for an auto-electrician now.
