S-Max Headlamp Washer Jets

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2014 2.0D Titanium-X Sport.

Recently (I say recently, over the last year), the headlamp washer jets have stopped going down. The drivers side has always been a little sticky, but usually retracts to about 15mm. Not *too* much of an issue, but over the last couple of weeks, it's been coming up, and staying up. But now, the passenger side has been doing the same! Is there a simple fix for something like this? If I manually pull the passenger side one up, there is a bit of resistance and it wants to go down, and if I push it, it will go down. The drivers side comes up, stays up, and has to be pushed all the way down.

There are no signs of water loss or screen wash loss. I wondered if they need a little lubricant, but not prepared just to spray some lube down the shaft of the pop up in case it's the wrong thing to do. The washers squirt fine, as do all wipers, but ti looks a bit weird when I get out of the car and they're both stuck up.

Pointers welcomed!

Dan

Use spray white grease on the mechanisms and run them a few times

Thanks for the response. Is it just as simple as pulling the washer jet up and spraying down to the base of the shaft through the bumper, or do I need to remove them to do it? I do have white spray grease.

Just get someone to work it while you spray it
