Possible to replace ABS ECU with a used one?

Featured Replies

Hi Club,

I've a S-Max 2014 Mk1 (WA6) 2.0 TDCi 163 hp with a probable failing/broken ABS ECU.

Instead of letting a Ford garage repair/replace with a new one, I asked another repair shop to replace it with a used one. Everything went well until some kind of last software programming stage which did not get through. All Error codes were gone but the car "simply" did not start. Then the repair guy said he called Ford service who claimed that any failing ABS ECU must be replaced with a new one and that it's not possible to use used ones in these cars.

Is this true? Anyone who managed to install a used ABS ECU on a S-Max and programmed it successfully?

I would have a look on the FORScan forums, I'm sure someone will know how to clone an ABS module
