Electronic Parking Brake Faulty

Featured Replies

i have a late 2015 smax (Mk2) and the parking brake switch is playing up. if i do the normal pull of the switch (forward edge) it rarely comes on. but if i place a finger on the left near the pivot point it will work seems to me a faulty switch rather than a problem with the brake itself.

Anyone seen this? is the switch hard to replace?

It shouldn't be although I have not done it myself on that car but you may need to do the following to reset it.

"NOTE: Anytime the parking brake switch electrical connector has been disconnected, the EPB system is deactivated and a DTC is stored in the ABS module. Perform the following step to restore the EPB system and clear the ABS module DTC. Apply and release the parking brake twice within 5 seconds, pausing with the switch in the NEUTRAL position for approximately one-half second between each apply and release."

was super easy to replace. just remove the side trim and and the silver trim around gearstick. the centre console just popped off and the switch is fixed underneath by 3 screws. put it back together and it worked a charm
