Reverse light & rear park sensors not working - Focus 2010

Featured Replies

I own a Focus 2.0 Petrol Titanium 2010 (manual), and the reverse light & parking sensors do not work.

I have changed the bulb and the switch on top of the gearbox and still having the same issue. When in reverse, there is a bit of play side-to-side which does flicker the reverse light on/off, so I doubt it's a fuse or wiring.

I'm not sure if the defective part is the gear shifter or the mechanism inside the gearbox that pushes the switch. Any thoughts on this? Anyone had the same problem? Is it a common fault on these models?

Double check you got the correct gearbox switch, I think there are 2 different types, one deeper than the other possibly.

As a very quick check use a small link of wire to bridge the pins in the wiring plug for the switch, if the light comes on nice and solid that proves out the rest of the wiring etc

The wiring is fine as I bridged the switch. Turns out the new starline reverse switch I fitted broke, only fitted it a couple of months ago..

I did try fitting two different switches just incase but they were too long. Just ordered a switch from ford. I'll see if that works. Thanks!
