UK Censorship

Featured Replies

@JW1982

Hi Wilco,

I realise that this problem has been caused by the UK government censoring what we are allowed to see and what websites we can visit, but you may not be aware that it seems that the method you use for posting photos has been blocked.

This means that every single one of your posts has a full page purple rectangle saying that UK visitors can not view the content. Of course in your home country you still see the photo, but for those of us here on the UK Ford Owners Club site we have to scroll past a full page of the censorship warning just to get to the next post.

Perhaps you could change the method of attaching you 'Kuga' photo so that (a) we can see it (b) we don't have to keep scrolling past the huge warning.

Best regards, Unofix Services.

Happy New Year.

This is really strange.  @StephenFord mentioned it in another post.  Tizer & mjt said they can't see it either.  Yet I can see it fine!  Initially thought it was England specific but can't be that now.  Are you using a VPN?  Or maybe the issue is with Firefox as I can see you're using there?

I do use FireFox v115.3.0

Do you have another browser to try?  I use Edge on the laptop and Chrome on mobile.  Seems to work on both of those for me.

I use Chrome & Linux Mint and get the purple box.
I agree it is disconcerting.

I'm getting the box also on Chrome on mobiles and android tablet, also on an Amazon Fire tablet which uses their Silk browser.

Changed it and hope it is better now.

I reviewed my Imgur account and am planning to delete it completely this weekend since most of the pictures on my account are used on UK forums. This however means that 99% of the pictures and documents I posted on the forum through the years will be gone.

However, if these pictures/documents are no longer visible I guess they have not any value anyway.

Yes, can see the pictures now!👍

Obviously not the same issue, but I'm getting "insecure connection" warnings on quite a few sites (even one of my banks!) since the "censorship" thing came in.

Anyone else noticed that?

Nope.  I have no idea what you lot are getting up to online!

I got that with one the other day after doing a search but I opened another link to the same company and it opened without a warning.

I can see the pictures now as well, I was using Edge, not Firefox when I couldn't see the photos.

Judging by the, amount of time we all spend on here, nothing very exciting!!😀

In my early online days, I use to host my forum photos on PhotoBucket (Free). Then they went to 'paid subscription' and I lost all my forum photos. They pestered me for years to take a subscription but I refused. All my photos just displayed a place card holder stating you needed a subscription to view. I think they may have changed that in recent years?

Yes. I now have to jump through a couple of hoops each time I login to the TSB. I get a security warning about my browser (FireFox 115.31.0esr) being out of date, which it is not.

I have used Photobucket for quite a few Years myself. In the early days Photobucket was completely free.

First, they started implementing a limited number of views per account per Month. Once the maximum number of views was reached the picture stopped showing. Shortly after they switched to a paid subscription and abandoned the free accounts.

I batch downloaded all images from Photobucket, emptied my account (accounts could not be deleted) and marked Photobucket as spam to avoid the dozens of E-mails they started sending to make you switch to the paid subscription.

This is when I changed to Imgur which worked perfectly fine for many Years. However when Imgur was taken over by MediaLab the quality of Imgur became worse.

Now looking for a decent, user friendly alternative. In the meantime I will use Dropbox.

yes, i can see the logo now too, could'nt before.

i am using chrome on win 10 and on desktop.

Yes, the pictures are fine now. I'm using Firefox 115.31.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 7.

I don't use any image hosting websites these days for reasons expressed in another thread. My Vitara photo was simply uploaded to my signature in Settings.

That sounded a great idea so I just went on to PhotoFucket, used the 'reset' password option, and got the screen saying I can recover all my photos, BUT they want a monthly subscription LOL Oh, my account was created in August 2005, they can stuff the photos....

Back in the days I used a 3rd party batch download tool from Github.

Using Chrome on my phone now and...there aren't any signatures at all!

So that explains why I thought this issue didn't happen on Chrome.  But also raises another question of why signatures show on mobile Chrome for you, but not me!

Don't you find the internet is far more complicated than it should be! 🤣
