TPMS disable?

Featured Replies

I know there are several comments re TPMS, I seem to remember seeing the system can be disabled completely via Forscan, is this correct? I have the TPMS not detected on my mk3.5 Focus. I always have and always will check tyre pressures anyway so could live without the sensors. I appreciate if error present at MOT is a fail and, if one sensor gone others close to failing.

Thanks

legal requirement after a certain date... so will fail an MOT if not there / not working

as its dead simple, dead cheap and very useful - people removing need a stern talking too

TPMS checks were added to the MOT test checklist in January 2015 and is carried out on the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for M1 vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012.

If the tyre pressure monitoring system is malfunctioning or obviously not working – this counts as a ‘major’ fault on the MOT checks.

Thanks for that, thats fair enough then. I realised there may be a problem but not so definite! I'll get it sorted by local tyre people.
