Mk4 Ford Focus ST Line 2019 Third Brake Light Query

Featured Replies

Good afternoon all!

Having a bit of an issue with finding a replacement part.

My third brake light (top of rear windscreen) is dying due to water ingress, trying to find a replacement is proving quite a challenge.

I've been to numerous sites, (Ford, eBay, Auto-Doc, Online Carparts) but I'm struggling, as most end up with 'not suitable' based on a search by registration.

eBay's assured fit, when i search by Reg, it shows my car as 2018 and lists all the parts, but on the images that show dimensions, it shows as 34cm wide, the light on mine is 31.5cm wide at its widest points.

Has anyone here replaced theirs, and if so, would you be kind enough to point me in the right direction, not bothered by after-market or OEM, not looking for anything spectacular, just a suitable replacement that'll fit.

Thank-you!

Rich

I phoned through to my closest ford dealer (lutterworth) and they gave me a part number of 2122949, but that brings up zero results on ford parts website, the bloke i spoke to also advised i'd be looking at around £180. Really hoping i can find one for an awful lot less than that price.

It's unique to that and ST isn't it?

Clear?

They've got that part number wrong, it's 2122848. However this doesn't make much sense. The same light is used by Mk4 Focus, Mk8 Fiesta and current Puma. It does cost over £100 for genuine Ford. But there are loads of used ones about as they were fitted to so many cars over the past 8 years.

The only Mk4 that doesn't use that one is the saloon...but we didn't get any of those in the UK. It should be the same on both hatch and estate.

The older models (Mk3 Focus and Mk7 Fiesta) used the same light as each other, but a different light to later models, so perhaps that's where the confusion is?

Great, thank you both for the input.
@TomsFocus do you know of any other aftermarket lights that would be compatible? I would prefer not to have to spend silly money on the light if possible, but if the link you provided is the best fit or only alternative then i'll go with it. I would go searching for a used item on eBay but I get information overload when presented with too many options.

There are several showing on eBay for either of the correct part numbers (2122848 or 2577277) but I can't confirm whether the cheaper ones would be compatible or good quality.

Personally I would buy a genuine used one to get the Ford quality and fitment at a cheap price.

Ok, thank-you so much for the input, might not seem like it but you've taken a weight off my mind so thank-you.

@TomsFocus apologies, I've narrowed my options down to two different fittings, not asking you to choose for me, but on one of them there is 'something' missing, i say something, because honestly, i dont know what it is or does.

Image - Part 1, the small hole, in this image it's empty.

Image - Part 2, the small hole has something in it.

Is this 'something' needed to fulfil a function?

Both items are listed as ford genuine parts, one from the link you provided (part 2)

Was searching around, had a notification of a new listing, part 2122848 for a little over £20, couldn't say no to it so ordered instantly, still interested in the question above though.

The hole is for the rear screen washer jet.
