Instrument cluster compatibility

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’ve recently gotten a mk3.5 focus ST line and want to change the cluster to an ST version as I would like red dials. I know that it’s relatively plug and play with the clusters you just need to change the mileage on the CCM but with the new clusters it appears the speedometer goes to 180 where mine goes to 160, does it sort itself out or will I have incorrect readings. Part no is (FEIT-10849-AKR)

The speed scaling is programmed into the EEPROM of the instrument cluster.

Simply install the ST instrument cluster, copy your CCC configuration data from the BCM (main) to the new instrument cluster (backup), and then write the correct mileage to the new cluster. After that, you should be good to go.

Keep in mind that most software can only increase the mileage, not decrease it.

Also, never perform a software update on the instrument cluster using the factory AS-BUILT data for your car. Doing so will load the non-ST software onto the ST cluster, which can cause a lot of issues.
