Hi Ford Friends,

This winter my 2019 diesel S-max has been intermittently, sporadically displaying the ESC service light and parking assist warnings on the dashboard. Typically this is 10 minutes after starting, sometimes when using the reverse parking sensors and especially when it's cold. However the car drives OK and pretty much always goes back to normal after the ignition is switched off for a few hours or overnight. We do quite a few short jouneys. From a google search and this forum it seems most likely battery related so I've had the battery replaced with an 'Exide' branded one (AGM from Tayna Batteries), at the garage (at the same time as MoT and service). The warnings have come up again a couple of times since. I'm currently using my CTEK charger to give it a good charge to see if that sorts it.

However it's a bit inconvenient to charge on the drive with an extension lead regularly ( and not to mention annoying given it's 2026 ! ). Are there any solutions ? Can anyone confirm, is there any Forscan settings to change the charging percentage ? I read it's set to 80% but may be increased - but I can't see how to do this in Forscan.

    It seems a good charge of the new battery has sorted it. The Stop Start, which I dislike, has even started working again!
