Boot stopped unlocking and opening

Hi all. Have a 2018 focus ecoboost and yesterday started having this strange issue. Usually if I have the key in my pocket I can walk upto the boot and it unlocks and opens. However this morning I went to and it didn’t work. It just does nothing even if the whole car is unlocked

I have to press the boot unlock button on the key for it to pop.

Any ideas?

    Sounds like the button on the tailgate is faulty.

    It has unlocked, just doesn't know you're pressing the button to open it.

    The button is easy enough to replace, but is different depending on whether you have a reversing camera or not.

    Ok thanks that’s interesting. Yes we have a reversing camera. Do you mean the bit you press with your fingertips to open?

    They seem fairly cheap; are generic ones ok for compatibility or better to get from Ford/oem one?

    Yes, that's the part I mean.

    The generic ones are often even worse quality than the Ford originals so I would stick with Ford personally. You are welcome to try a cheap one though.
