Ford fiesta mk8 LED rear lights swap

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have read online that the MK8 rear lights, which were halogen bulbs. on mine originally, can be swapped straight out, plug and play.

I have since swapped my rear lights out to LEDs recently and have found that only the one on the right works for the inner LEDs. i have plugged the right one into the left connector and it works just fine.

Anyone got any suggestions on what could cause this?

You've proved that the unit isn't faulty so check the power, especially the polarity

Does the halogen reverse work ok?

Hello yes the reverse light does work.

I have found the reason for it not working.

For anyone else doing this conversion:

check the plug that connects from you car to the light. It just so happens that the plug on the left side of my car has three pins and three wires to each pin, hence why it only works on the left. Where as for the right it has three pins and two wires only (picture below)

Double check before the conversion that you have three pins and three wires only the connector

Have you added the extra circuit in now then?

Hello,

I have ordered a new wiring loom for the boot wiring with a connector that has three pins, three wires and will get someone to do it for me.

Looking at doing this sometime next week so will keep you updated.
