Advice for setting up forscan for the first time?

Featured Replies

As @TomsFocus advised their info on froscan is out of date but recommended using this to diagnose an issue with a sticking accelerator so I thought it worth putting to the forum as a new thread.

What is the general way to use it as in kit involved and such? I did a search on the forums and saw a result for a thread related to an android app. I have been given an android but haven't set it up. I use a laptop which would be better. Also no smartphone. One point to note, I have linux on the laptop which I doubt they will bother making compatible for - however I just did a search and see there are some results for that so maybe some community input has got it to work. I could run windows in a virtual machine though if it will be more straight forward.

So that issue aside, what gear will I be looking to get in order to communicate with the vehicle by means of the laptop?

Also where would the 'plug' be on a 2007 ford transit connect? I really would like to hear it isn't one of the things behind the glove compartment where there is the auxiliary fuse box as I blocked that off, before I knew about there being fuse boxes there, when making a campervan build and there are storage shelves where the passenger seat used to be! It was a real job putting it in too! so getting it out would be a big faff.

Ah I see there is a dedicated forscan forum. That is worth a look. EDIT: Oh, when I come to sign up it is only available to paid members.
