Intermittent spanner icon after battery change.

Featured Replies

As my car is getting on a bit recently did full service and also changed the battery with a varta agm start/stop battery.

Occasionally when stop/starts runs I get a spanner icon with message to check user manual but after a few mins it disappears.

Did BMS battery restart via forscan after battery change. Not had a long journey yet does it just need a small top up with my maypole charger or is it something else I need to check?

Sounds like the wrong battery. AGM batteries charge differently to EFB batteries. You may be able to change the battery type using Forscan.

Oh, that is interesting. Focus & Fiesta were always EFB with stop start.

Not happened since. Maybe just BMS reset not completed or battery needed bit of a charge.

I am sure it is still a problem with the BMS, there are vairous ways to reset it with or without a scanner, If it resets properly the battery light should flash a few times
