Liquid splatters on silver part of console - how to remove?

Featured Replies

In my 2011 Focus, any bit of liquid that’s not immediately wiped up leaves what seems like a permanent stain on the silver plastic console near cupholders + dash:

It’s not gunk or sticky, which would be easy to remove. It’s like the droplet/splatter becomes part of the paint.

Is there any way to clean up? Thanks

You could try lathering it up with a detailing brush and a clean microfibre? Or next I would try some melamine sponge, marketed as magic erasers and some all purpose cleaner- cautiously. Next more agressive one is to try very sparingly use something like The Pink stuff paste. Try and use light even pressure. With things like that it’s always risky as it could mar the surface. If there’s a stain in a less noticeable place, test the approach there first.

I don’t know if it will work for sure, but perhaps applying a wax/sealant sort of product to the surface could protect it from future stains- as long as caught early, as it should just bead on the surface. Hope you get to the bottom of it pal
