Ford Focus 2019 P0299

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 68 plate (2019) Ford Focus ST-Line MK4 (C519) Manual 1.0 ecoboost

(Exact details below of car below)

Really need some advice here, Ive had this car for almost a year and it’s always had this same problem.

The car is really sluggish, jerky when pulling off. It still drives okay, however where I live around the M20/A20 there’s a few hills so going 60-70MPH the car just enters limp mode and shows the engine management (P0299) which I know is common.

We have had the turbo changed under warranty which didn’t fix the issue, then we had an additional code (P0130) we then had the 02 sensor changed under warranty, this fixed the issue for about a month then it came back again.

I have changed the AIT sensor and MAP sensor which STILL hasn’t fixed the issue. I know on the older models it’s common for the vacuum valve to be faulty but I can’t find it on this model. It’s very intermittent, sometimes I can do a motorway run and the car is fine and other days I can’t.

The car also had a very rough idle as start up, the engine revs off and on but the limiter doesn’t match it.

Ive dumped a bottle of Cataclean too hoping that may help.

Honestly this is way too stressful and was hoping someone has had the same issue who may be able to assist.

Thanks in advance

Check all the inlet hoses for looseness and/or damage (try a smoke test)

Check the intercooler for damage - Smoke test

Check the vacuum pump is working
