Replacement PCM for Focus Mk1

Featured Replies

Hi

My Focus (1.6 Zetec 2005) no longer starts up - the dashboard lights come on but nothing else happens (no clicking etc.). The local Ford garage has run a diagnostic check and states that it needs a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Unfortunately they have said that they cannot replace it as the required PCM has been discontinued due to the vehicle's age. I have tried another Ford garage and they said the same thing. They said that you can get them on the second hand market but that there is a risk that other problems may still occur with electrical functions even if the car is up and running again.

The car is otherwise in good nick and I'd love to keep it going if possible, but given that it's only worth around £600 (if working), I don't know whether it's time to let it go...

Ideally I would like to find someone who could source a genuine PCM and replace/reprogramme it. If anyone has had a similar problem and has any advice I'd be really grateful.

Thank you all

Get the part number from it and buy one from a breaker of exactly the same part number, with keys

Just make sure you buy it from someone who accepts returns in case that's not the issue (which I reckon)
