Help with Engine Warning Light Diagnosis

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Focus Zetec S 2009 Petrol car. It’s only been driven around 45,000 miles in its lifetime. MOT & Service due, but no major previous issues.

Recently, the car has been struggling to turnover with a yellow engine warning light coming up. When it does turn over correctly and I’m driving at a distance usually above 50 mph I will also get an engine warning light. Sometimes with the speed limiter warning kicking in and slowing me down.

More recently when I did a longer trip, I noticed that my car engine would temporarily drop bellow 10 mph & I would see all warning lights. However after a short few seconds its would kick back in.

I have taken it to a few garages who have tried to look at the car and have also driven it but have not witnessed the same issues and therefore telling me there’s nothing wrong with the car… & In fairness to them when I do drive it at local road speeds, it does run really well.

What am I missing or what are they missing? Has anyone experienced this before and have found a solution that I can offer up to the garage?

If it's struggling to turn over then suspect a dead/dying battery.

A dead/dying battery will also trigger warning lights too as the modules are moaning about low voltage.

Get a new battery fitted, get set up on FORScan and clear the DTCs, then see what comes back
