Stuck Bonnet on 2004 Connect, Battery Flat

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I have a Connect 2004 L220 TD, I just bought her and was trailered home, the battery is flat and I cannot open the bonnet with the key, it turns, just doesn't release, I cannot find an internal release lever anywhere on the drivers or passenger side, any suggestions appreciated

Jules

Hi,

Very common problem. There isn't an internal release. You'll have to get the bonnet open from outside one way or another. (Plenty of videos on YouTube).

If you just want to charge or jump start the van then you can jack it up and attach charger/jump leads from the underside as long as you're careful. You will still need the bonnet open eventually though.

Hi Tom

I haven't found anything on YouTube for a Connect, only general transit stuff, and the grill gives access to the latch with a Pry Bar, which i have found doesn't work on my van !

Thanks anyway, if you can send me a link to a useful video I would much appreciate it

Kind regards Jules

Sorry, I don't know of any Connect specific methods. The latches work in the same way though, so if you can get the grill out then you should be able to work out how to move the latch from there. You may have to break the grill as worst case scenario.
