I'm sure the more tech savvy are already well aware of this, but with the increased use of voice recognition by various bodies for verification purposes, I thought it was worth an airing.

I wondered why we get landline calls that have just rung and hung up without leaving a message. Then I remembered that many people have a personalized outgoing message in their own voice on their answerphone - as some of our friends still do.

Its good advice for the diminishing number of people who still have one, to stick with the impersonal "built in" message on an answerphone rather than recording your own.
