Windscreen Washer Failure

Featured Replies

Fuse was fine - pump was fine once they got it inside at the dealer.

Dom/Simon - I always use neat screenwash, it's still frozen up.

Price of second service - for anyone looking in the future was £138.

Thats not a bad price at all, im not going to be cruel and say what a service costs me but for joe public thats a good deal, we charge around that and we arent bad for servicing

as for service, I'm on the plan, £15odd a month, costs nothing. must remember to ask about changing it to new car!!

i pay 35 for a major service :) and about 7 for a minor

£15 a month? Costs nothing?

1st service - £110 odd (can't remember my exact figure)

2nd service - £138

Total £248.

24 months of £15 = £360

Translation - paying over the odds.

As for screen wash melting your wiper blades - I very much doubt it. My screenwash (Autoglym - undiluted) is wax safe (I tested it) let alone paint safe.

That's good to know - Smiths Garage Pinwall, amazing service - included a free courtesy car I didn't even have to pay for insurance on.

A follow up question to this thread. When you have frozen pump, do windshield wipers still activate when pushing fluid lever even there's no fluid coming out?

My fuse is ok, but even though reservoir is not frozen, lever doesn't do anything. Am I having a lever problem or broken pump, any way to know without starting to take things apart?

Yes they do actived

Thanks for the quick reply. Seems that I have more serious problem than just a broken pump, damn... Well, off to the shop I go.

Hi,

Had the same situation recently. Temps got to -5 C or something and I thought that nozzels were frozen. Then cleaned them. Only at the end of 15 km ride nozzels started to spray (I guess they needed heat from engine) and temp was -1 C.

It might be that pomp will just not work when temps go down a certain point and You need a long drive and not so low temps to see it work again.

No fuse problem, but I use screen wash for winter that needs to get diluted (1/3 sw and 2/3 water for temps down to -10 C). Now poured a glass almost undiluted wash and I will see what is going to happen.
