Mk2 Rear Drums

Featured Replies

Hi,

My 1st post :)

I need to clean the brake drums out on a MK2 Focus. Is it possible to remove the drums using the 4 bolts on the back (the same as the MK1)?

Thanks ;)

I would of thought so, I used to do it on my old escort, was quite easy.

Thanks Leemaxd. Job for the weekend so I'll check it out.

If you take the drum off from the front via the hub cap you will have to replace the hub cap so yeh it's best from the back.

Yes the back is definately easier for me. I've got a knuckle adaptor for the ratchet so I'll give it a go with that if it's a bit awkward.

The drums are full of dust and what happened on the weekend was I washed the car and some water got into the drum and gunked up. The following day the wheel was stuck solid! Had the RAC out to take the alloy off and tap the drum. It freed itself then.

I've got 2 cans of brake cleaner so I'll give them a good service :)
