Adding Bluetooth Module To Audio Unit

Featured Replies

I've recently bought an 09 plate 1.25 Fiesta Style Plus. I'd like to upgrade the stereo unit to include bluetooth if pos, however the current unit doesn't have a phone button or option on the display. I imagine I'd need a display screen & firmware upgrade to include the phone option, and indicator stalk and mic. Would I have to replace the whole unit?

P.s current unit includes AUX input...dont know if this makes a difference to my options.

If anyone has gone via Ford to do this does it cost an arm and a leg? Wondering if it's worth it or if I should just get an after-market parrot type.

thanks all.

Hi Mucker

I have been trying to do this for ages.

I used to own a focus which i added a bluetooth module to (i removed it . The wiring was in place and it worked as soon as the module was plugged in.

The fiesta is different. Mine is a 10 plate and the wiring wasnt in the car. I had the low spec radio and screen.

I bought a new screen, stalk, mic, roof panel, usb socket, wiring loom with the plug for the module and got a higher spec radio off ebay (the control panel is separate to the disc unit so you actually only need the control panel).

I connected everything up and the screen works fine. When i tried to get to the bluetooth it was there in the menu but i couldnt switch it on. I have since found out that it needs to be activated in the gem module. I got a ford mechanic to try and do this as a foreigner with the ids computer. He couldnt get the configuration to save back to the car.

So i am still trying to find a way of getting it activated.

I managed to download a copy of the ids software onto my laptop. If i could get hold of a vcm module which plugs into the car i would try and do it myself.
