Respraying The Grill

Featured Replies

Yet another dim question, but I am a self proclaimed N00B :)

I have a mk6 fiesta zetec tdci and the front grills are light grey, I am looking to buy a new debadged black grill as the one I have just now has the chrome chipped from it.

My question is... Can these grills be easily resprayed??

Do I need to sand them, prime them and apply about 8 coats??

(google has a lot to answer for) I know I will get the answers Im after on this forum.

Thanks in advance.

Easy enough if you know what your doing

Sand > primer > sand > paint > sand > lacquer. To ensure good bonding of each layer etc specially because its the exterior. Saying that it will prob crack eventually which ever way you do it and the stone chips dont help.

I'm no expert but I'd seek half decent advice/tips before atempting it yourself mate.

Either pay a pro to do or search around here because other members have done it and it still looks good IMO ;)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds a little harder than I expected.

Probably Give it a try though.
