Handbook Help

Featured Replies

Hi, I just bought a used 52 plate Fiesta 1.4 last night from a used car garage. There was no handbook with it. When i got in it this morning it was flashing EAC on the dial under the speedo. I dont have a handbook, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if i can find a handbook online please? I'm due to go away for the weekend and wanted it to be its first long drive out but i dont want to if this is a big problem! And the garage isnt answering yet :-( Any help would be much appreciated please.

EAC stands for Electronic Accelerator Controller and it is a general fault. To find exact fault code you'd need to hook it up to IDS.

Is the car noticeably underpowered?

Yes, it went off the next time i got in it, ive seen a few people on here say that its happened on and off a few times. But i'm supposed to be driveing from Durham - Stoke this afternoon and i obviously wont if can be a big problem.

in engineering theres a rule of thumb -

one anomaly, ignore.

two anomalies, investigate.

three anomalies, quarantine.

but if you're concerned get it to fords and get them to hook up IDS

it looks like you have joined the long list of owners with this problem which ford are scratching their heads to fix.

Take it back to the garage where you brought it from. Its there responsibility to put it right. Sold it to you with a fault.

You would have a good case for rejecting the car and getting a full refund as you had had it such a short amount of time.

If you are unable to reject the car you have to give the dealer the opportunity to remedy the situation before demanding a refund.
